Key Characteristics: Sleek body, 16-24cm long. Tail is longer than its body.
Risks: Spreads diseases like leptospirosis and salmonella. can carry fleas that transmit plague pathogens. Constant requirement to gnaw, risking electrical wiring and insulation.

House Mouse (Mus musculus)​
Habitat: Kitchen, pantries, wall voids, offices and retail stores.
Key Characteristics: Small and agile, 7-10cm long. Light brown to grey. Shorter tail compared to body. High reproduction rate (breeds every 3 weeks).
Risks: Damage to food packaging, contaminates food. Leaves urine and droppings frequently.

Norway Ray (Rattus norvegicus)​
Habitat: Ground level burrows, sewers, drains, compost piles and garden beds.
Key Characteristics: Larger in weight than Roof Rat (up to 500g), blunt nose, small ears and shorter tail than body. Not a strong climber.
Risks: Ground dwelling, so digs under slabs, around drains and shed. Aggresive chewers, can damage foundations, piping and electrical.
